6 ideas for gifts to include in a future driver’s Christmas stocking … or to keep in their vehicle!

Are you maybe looking to offer a special gift to “rev up” the life of a loved one? With the holidays just around the corner, there’s no better time to find the perfect something for a future driver in your life. Here are a few ideas:

1.    Driving courses. Whether you have a teenager at home who’s on the verge of obtaining their driver'’ licence or a spouse who’s decided to finally learn how to ride a motorcycle, a driving course is always an excellent place to start!

2.      Practice sessions!

Any new driver must absolutely practice what they’ve learned during their driving courses. The time you dedicate and the experience you share will be immensely valuable to the future driver!

How to be a helpful and effective accompanying rider?

3.     An emergency kit (to be kept in the vehicle).

You can purchase emergency kits that include all of the material required in the event of a problem: reflective triangle, flares, work gloves, booster or jumper cables, etc.  You could also add a snow brush and a small shovel.

4     A dashboard camera. These come in a variety of models, and can record in front or in back of the vehicle and even the driver. These kits are also sold at different price points, to meet various needs.

5.    A registration to a car sharing or carpooling service. One of the most novel gifts might well be to register the future driver to a car sharing or carpooling service like Communauto or Amigo Express.

These services will still likely be useful when the new driver has their own vehicle, the costs of which they will be able to partially offset by transporting passengers with them!

6.      A GPS locator. Is the future driver the type of person to be easily distracted? You might want to get them a GPS locator to help quickly find car keys. And why not add a second one, that can be kept in the vehicle to facilitate finding the latter when the new driver parks it in a large garage or busy parking lot?
